Superfood Supplement Fix — Quit
Drinking Coffee & Still Get the Buzz and
Speedy Metabolism, 3 Steps
You love caffeine in all its forms —
coffee, iced tea, cappuccino,
ice-blended, Red Bull, English Breakfast
tea. You need your fix. You like how it
fills you up and squelches your
appetite. How you seem to lose weight
or keep the pounds off. How it tastes.
And you love the ritual. We know. We get
it. We’ve been there! But the truth is
that drinking caffeine is like borrowing
money from the bank ? sure you get an
influx of energy now, but you have to
pay back later, with interest. There are
the coffee headaches, dry skin, jitters,
slowed metabolism and all the other
drawbacks that come with continued
coffee drinking. Luckily, we found an
all-natural way to kick the habit and
still feel satiated: green superfood
energy drinks.
A natural long-term fix that helps speed
your metabolism without the jitters!
Green superfood is full of the best,
unprocessed carbs there are — greens.
Greens give your body and brain the fuel
they need to thrive, and they’re not a
quick fix. When your body gets carbs
plus protein plus healthy fats, it
metabolizes the carbs and burns fat
steadily, giving you constant energy.
It’s a buzz and it’s good for you
because it actually fuels your cells.
Here are additional ways superfood drink
ingredients keep your cells energized:
– natural caffeine in green tea is a
natural stimulant (that also has
anti-oxidant qualities!)
– anti-oxidants keep cells healthy
which keeps them energized
– chlorophyll helps supply cells with
oxygen (the more oxygen the more energy)
– probiotics and digestive enzymes
improve digestive function, which helps
keep your body cleaner, more efficient
and more energized
– all the ingredients are alkaline in
PH, which helps keep alkaline balance in
your blood (caffeine makes it more
acidic which makes you more at risk for
illness)
If you rely on processed carbs (like
bagels or muffins) plus coffee (instead
of unprocessed carbs, protein and oil)
to get you through the morning or late
night hours, your body eventually goes
into “starvation mode.” Your metabolism
then screeches to a halt, you store
almost all food as fat instead of
burning fat for fuel and you feel really
hungry so you tend to pig out. Yikes!
3 Steps to Get Your Buzz On Without The
Drawbacks
Here’s how to kick the habit and still
feel totally happy and stimulated with
green superfood drinks:
1. Replace coffee with green superfood
drinks. You get all the benefits we’ve
mentioned plus the healthy nutrients can
help you beat any withdrawal headaches.
2. Drink lots of water. This will also
help you beat withdrawal headaches.
Drink an absolute minimum of half of
your body weight in ounces per day.
3. Replace the ritual. This is key! A
big part of any habit is the “love,”
soothing, comfort and socializing that
comes with it. If you go to a coffee
shop every morning, keep doing so and
have decaf instead. If you like to sip
coffee while you read the paper, sip
your breakfast shake instead or have
your shake and then a warm decaf tea.
Whatever it is, honor your coffee ritual
and come up with a new healthier one. It
may take a few days, but it will really
help you stick to your guns.
Ready for your powerful energy boost
that replaces the need for coffee…
Quitting the caffeine habit can be headache-free if you
replace your favorite beverages with green superfood drinks
and your beloved coffee rituals with new rituals. Keep
reading to find out how, because green superfoods have what
it takes to give you an energy buzz and keep your metabolism
efficient all day. It?s better than coffee and healthier
too!

A Little Overview Of Coffee Beans
The coffee plant has two main species.
There is the Coffea Arabica, which is
the more traditional coffee and
considered to be superior in flavor, and
the Coffea Canephora known more commonly
as Robusta. Robusta tends to be higher
in caffeine and can be grown in climates
and environments were Arabica would not
be profitable. Robusta is also typically
more bitter and acidic in flavor.
Because of this Robusta tends to be less
expensive. High quality Robusta is also
used to blend espresso for more bite,
and to lower costs.
A little known fact is that some coffee
beans improve their flavor with age. It
is the green unroasted beans which are
aged; the typical length of time is 3
years, though there are some houses
which sell beans aged to 7 years. Aged
beans have a fuller flavor and are less
acidic.
Growing conditions, soil types and
weather patterns during the growing
season all contribute to the flavor of
the bean, creating the differences in
flavor from points of origin, such as
Kenya or Brazil. However, roasting adds
its own flavor, sometimes to the point
that it is difficult to tell where the
beans originated from, even by
experienced cuppers.
The lighter the roast the more the
natural flavor of the bean remains. This
is why beans from regions such as Kenya
or Java are normally roasted lightly,
retaining their regional characteristics
and dominate flavors. There is a method
of roasting in Malaysia which adds
butter during the roasting producing a
variety called Ipoh White Coffee.
Beans roasted to darker browns begin to
taste more like the method of roasting
than the original flavors. Dark roasts
such as French or Vienna Roasts tend to
completely eclipse the original flavor.
Roasting to whatever degree, while
adding stronger flavor does not effect
the amount of caffeine of the bean.
Fry pan roasting was popular in the 19th
century, since the beans were normally
shipped and purchased still in their
green state. You simply poured the green
coffee beans in a frying pan and roasted
them in the kitchen. This process took a
great deal of skill to do in a
consistent manner. Fry pan roasting
became much less popular when vacuum
sealing pre-roasted coffee was
perfected. However, in order to vacuum
seal roasted beans, you had to wait for
them to stop emitting CO2, as roasted
beans do for several days after the
roasting process. What this meant was
that vacuum sealed coffee was always
just a little stale as the flavors begin
to turn bitter and deteriorate in just
about a week after roasting.
Home roasting is once again becoming
popular with the creation of
computerized drum roasters which help
simplify the process. There are some
people who have found methods of
effectively roasting beans using their
hot air pop corn makers.
The region the bean is from as discussed
before is a primary factor to the type
of flavor you can expect from the brew,
though it is very true that ‘new’ or
unexpected tastes come from every
region.
Arabia and Africa grow their coffee
beans in high altitudes in the rich
black soils of Kenya, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia
and Tanzania. The flavors of these beans
are distinct and of legendary status.
The Americas coffees are grown in near
rainforest conditions in areas such as
Colombia, Costa Rica and Guatemala.
Coffees of the Americas tend to be very
well balanced and aromatic.
The Pacifics includes coffees from
Sumatra, Java, New Guinea and Sulawesi,
which are as various in flavor as the
islands they come from.
Then there are the exotics such as
certified Jamaica Blue Mountain and
certified Hawaiian Kona. These are rare
indeed and can go for as much as %60.00
per pound.

Coffee and Chocolate
Few things inspire the intense devotion
and passion as does coffee. However, one
of those “things” that does is
chocolate. And few things are paired
together as well as coffee and
chocolate. I drink a fair amount of
green tea, but when it comes to enjoying
the essence of the cacao nibs it is my
coffee that I reach for.
Like our beloved coffee, chocolate has
taken a reputation hit as an unhealthy
food. The good news is that the essence
of cocoa, like coffee, contains many
healthy compounds. As it turns out, it
is the added dairy and sugar that
creates the unhealthy characteristics.
Understanding that, let’s explore some
combinations that really tempt the taste
buds.
Coffee Chocolates
No this is a perfect way to enjoy our
favorite combination. Espresso roasted
coffee beans dipped in dark chocolate to
make the perfect candy. The bean gives
the candy an enticing aroma and crunchy
texture that truly complements it. You
can find this treat in dark and white
variations. When the white is used it
usually covers a bean that is latte
roasted. A light roast goes very well
with the delicate flavor of white
chocolate.
Nut Chocolates
Who hasn’t enjoyed nuts covered in a
silky smooth chocolate? Many of us grew
up enjoying peanut M&Ms. Well, now it’s
time to grow-up and enjoy the adult
version of that candy. Almonds,
macadamia nuts, hazel nuts, cashews, and
now cacao nibs are all wonderfully done
with our favorite coating. And of
course, your favorite cup of coffee
along side.
Tropical Fruit Chocolates
What an interesting combination this is,
the sweetness of the fruit with the
richness of chocolate. Remember the
first time you had this combination at a
fondue pot? Now you can experience true
tropical delight with three wonderful
taste treats that come to us from the
tropics: cacao, tropical fruit, and
coffee. From guava, to passion fruit, to
pineapple, these fruits are terrific
alone. But when paired this way the
taste experience is truly one to savor.
How would it feel if you were enjoying
some chocolate treat with your coffee?
Well don’t hesitate, enjoy it today.

Becoming A Coffee Gourmet
So you have aspirations to become a
coffee gourmet. But there are yet a few
things you need to learn about gourmet
coffee beans before you become one. Here
are some of them:
Proper Storage
First thing?s first: Coffee? It?s more
like wine than you think, especially
when it comes to proper storage. That?s
because gourmet coffee beans are very
sensitive to moisture, light, and above
all, air. So if you want to preserve
their flavor, make sure you keep the
beans where moisture, light, and air
can?t get to them.
The best choice you have is an
air-tight, opaque container stored in a
cool, dark place between 50 and 70
degrees. For even better results, store
your gourmet coffee beans in small
quantities in valve bags. That way, you
can ensure fresh, coffee bean flavor
even after long months of storage for
those beans that you don?t use right
away.
Bean Selection
The best way to get superior tasting
coffee is to start with the freshest,
highest quality gourmet coffee beans you
can find. It?s always advisable to start
small, sampling a bit of everything here
and there until you find one that you
like.
Water
You must know by now that the quality of
your gourmet coffee beans can affect the
taste of your coffee. So inferior beans
will naturally result in inferior coffee
just as superior beans will yield
superior coffee. But the taste of your
coffee is not affected by the mere
quality of your beans. The water that
you use can also make or break your
coffee.
Always use fresh water with your gourmet
coffee beans. If you decide to use tap
water, make sure that it tastes fine to
drink before using it for making fresh
coffee. However, if you notice anything
funny about the taste of your tap water,
then don?t use it. Instead, use a
quality bottled water or a water filter.
The Right Grind
Even with the best gourmet coffee beans
and the finest bottled water around,
your coffee may still taste less than
perfect with the wrong grind. In fact,
the wrong grind is the one thing that
can completely destroy the flavor of
your coffee.
When grinding gourmet coffee beans, just
remember two things:
* Grind that is too fine will produce
bitter and over-extracted coffee.
* Grind that is too coarse will produce
weak tasting and sour coffee.
So when grinding gourmet coffee beans,
make sure that the beans are ground
specifically for the chosen brewing
method.
Proportion
And lastly, the most important thing you
need to learn about gourmet coffee beans
is that it?s all about proportions.
Making great coffee is really a
balancing act ? the right amount of
water for the right amount of coffee
beans, the right grind for the right
method of brewing, the quality of
gourmet coffee beans for the right taste
of coffee. Once you learn the importance
of proportion, then you are on your way
to become a coffee gourmet.
So you have aspirations to become a coffee gourmet. But
there are yet a few things you need to learn about gourmet
coffee beans before you become one. Here are some of them:

13 Fascinating Coffee Facts
Coffee is the world’s most popular
beverage. It is the preferred drink of
Americans as well as people all over the
world and especially Europeans. The
history of coffee is an interesting one
as well, as coffee is believed to have
been first discovered back in c850 by
the legendary goat herder Kaldi in
Ethiopia whose goats become hyper after
eating red berries from a local shrub.
He in turn tried the berries himself and
noticed that they altered his mood for
the better.
The first coffee was roasted and boiled
by Arabs in c1100 who made qahwa, a
beverage made from coffee plants.
Throughout civilization coffee gained
popularity and spread throughout the
Americas, Europe and across the world.
The fact that coffee hit the world by
storm is certainly an understatement as
illustrated by the long lines at
Starbucks, with people willing to spend
an average of %5 a day on a cup of fresh
brew. It is definitely here to stay.
Aside from the cup, coffee flavor is
popular in candy, ice cream, cakes and
baked goods, as well as savory dish
recipes. It is a standard in the
morning, during work and as an after
dinner drink. It is impossible to find
an office building without a coffee
machine, or a corner without a Starbucks
or some other chick coffee house. Coffee
has many variations from the plain old
brew, to fancy cups of espresso with
steamed milk to the very thick and
strong Turkish coffee. There is no doubt
humans love it!

The Many Side Effects Of Coffee
The smell of coffee brewing can surely
awaken the senses. But people will feel
the effects more after sipping since
this is when the effects of coffee
really kick in.
What are the effects of coffee? Studies
have shown this can boost the person’s
alertness, improve performance and
concentration. Internally, this means an
increase in the heart rate, blood
pressure and basal metabolic rate. It
will also promote urine production and
can help relax muscle tension. It is
because of this that many use coffee
while studying for an exam, to help wake
up in the morning or while working
through the night.
The main ingredient in coffee is
caffeine. Research shows that it is safe
to drink one or two cups a day. However,
those who exceed this may suffer the
negative effects that include difficulty
sleeping, headaches, irregular
heartbeat, nausea and muscle tension.
This may also lead to ulcer or
heartburn, which is why experts also
advise people to drink moderately.
Coffee isn’t good for women who are
pregnant or patients who have heart
disease should avoid it since it could
cause birth defects and other health
problems.
But those who drink coffee may also
experience the same effects by drinking
substances that contain caffeine.
Examples of these are tea, sodas and
chocolates.
Coffee may not make the person do
something foolish which is usually
associated with the use of illegal
substances or alcohol. But it can be
habit forming. Those who drink it on a
regular basis and suddenly stop may
experience what is known as withdrawal
effects that will disappear after a day
or two when they are able to once again
have a cup of coffee.
But coffee has been known to prevent
certain diseases. Java for instance is
effective as an anti-depressant. Others
are known to lessen the chances of
developing Parkinson’s disease in men
even if doctors aren’t yet able to
determine the cause of this disease.
Coffee is being consumed in almost every
household. It can be purchased from the
store or brewed at home or in the
office. The effects it has on one person
may vary with another depending on how
well the body is able to react to the
caffeine so when the individual has felt
this is enough, it is time to stop
rather than feeling the negative effects
of consuming too much.
The smell of coffee brewing can surely awaken the senses.
But people will feel the effects more after sipping since
this is when the effects of coffee really kick in.

The Different Types of Coffee
Second to water in popularity, coffee is
consumed by billions of people
throughout the world. Statistics have
shown that about 400 billion cups are
consumed annually and that children and
adults have been taking it for several
good reasons.
Coffee is a popular beverage served in
two ways: hot or with ice. It is
naturally prepared from the roasted
seeds of a coffee plant, and these seeds
are known as ?coffee beans?. The beans
originate from an evergreen tree which
has grown and has been cultivated in a
number of subtropical areas around the
world, including Latin America, the
Caribbean Islands, Africa, Arabian
Peninsula, Indonesia and other regions
in Southeast Asia.
Being cultivated and produced in a
number of countries, coffee comes in
varieties. Each variety has its
distinctive quality and differs
according to flavor, acidity, amount of
caffeine, and mouth feel. All of these
characteristics are highly dependent on
the environment where the coffee plants
are grown, as well as on the way they
are processed and produced.
There are three major varietals of
coffee: the C. Robusta, C. Arabica, and
the Blended types. Below are short
descriptions for each type. Read on.
C. Robusta ? Known scientifically as
coffee canephora, the Robusta variety
naturally contains 40 to 50 percent of
caffeine and is cultivated in some major
areas in the world where the second
variety, C. Arabica, will not thrive.
This type has a bitter taste and has
little flavor. Its aroma is deemed as
something similar to that of brunt
rubber or wet cardboard. And, one of
the very pricey and unusual subtype of
this species is the Indonesian Kopi
Luwak and the Kape Alamid, which is
known and highly valued in the
Philippines.
C. Arabica ? Noted to have originated
from the Arabian Peninsula, the Coffee
Arabica is the older type of coffee
known to man. It is thought to be
indigenous to Ethiopia, and is widely
known for its richer flavor and taste.
Some of the well-known subtypes of C.
Arabica are Colombian, Colombian milds,
Costa Rican Tarrazu, Guatemala, Hawaiian
Kona, Jamaica Blue Mountain, Ethiopian
Harrar, Ethiopian Yirgacheffe, Sulawesi
Toraja Kalossi, Tanzania Peaberry,
Sumatra Mandheling, Sumatra Lintong,
Java, and Kenya AA.
Blends ? As the name implies, this
coffee variety is a combination of both
C. Arabica and C. Robusta. Blends are
generally considered mainly to create a
sense of balance and complexity. With
this idea, a number of blends are
available nowadays and one of the oldest
is the Mocha Java, which is but a
combination of coffee beans belonging to
the same name. This blend is noted for
its chocolate flavor, leading to the
blending of the known Caf? Mocha.
Several other varieties of coffee exist
nowadays. All of these varieties are
prepared from the blends, which are
mixed with other less expensive
varieties to provide a new taste and
flavor. The Jamaica Blue Mountain and
the Hawaiian Kona are but two of the
most prominent examples of these recent
coffee blends.

The Top Coffee Producers by Region
Whether it is from Starbucks, an
Aeropress, or the vending machine down
the hall, the beans that make your cup
of coffee are likely to have come from
just a handful of countries. However,
the importance of the process by which
the beans have been grown, and by whom,
have only recently been contemplated by
the average westerner in recent years
through the rise of fair trade
initiatives. What follows is a
comprehensive list of the top coffee
producers by region.
Brazil in South America is the largest
coffee producer in the world at
17,000,000 tonnes in 2008. Alongside
its other major agricultural exports,
such as soybeans, rice, and beef, the
government has recently implemented The
Land Reform Program in an aim to
generate two million jobs. In recent
years, the devastating encroachment of
the agriculture industry on the Amazon
rainforest has led to criticism on the
countrys green policy. Subsequently,
the government have since implemented an
Environmental Crimes Law. Interestingly
the country only ranks 19th in terms of
average coffee consumption per person.
Vietnam is now a big producer of Robusta
coffee beans producing over 15,000,000
tonnes of green coffee in 2008. Since a
succession of government implemented
land reform measures, Vietnams prolific
agricultural industry (started and still
upheld by rice production), has also
become the largest producer of cashew
nuts with Coffee as its third biggest
agricultural export. Unlike rice, wet
paddy fields are not needed for growing
coffee beans and, at least in terms of
methane production, coffee production is
less harmful to the environment.
Indonesia is the third largest exporter
of coffee, the largest producer of
washed Arabica coffee and the fourth
biggest green bean producer in the
world. Unlike the aforementioned
countries, the agriculture sector makes
up significantly less (14 percent) of
the republics overall economy, despite
making up for almost half of the
countrys employment. Aside from
coffee, Indonesias biggest imports are
rice, tea, and palm oil which has
suffered significant ecological
controversy in the last few years.
Further significant coffee-producing
areas include Columbia, Mexico, and
Ethiopia which has emerged in recent
years as a prime location for growing.
